Today is about the childcare support room, Pokapoka room of Seikoh II Nursery, the sister school of "Seikoh I Nursery" that we interviewed last time.
We made crumpled paper grapes as a seasonal craft event on the interview day. We also saw moms and kids, singing with a picture book in the beginning and playing freely in the room as always. Even children who were not in a good mood at first started playing with big smiles as soon as the event started. We would like to introduce such fun event from now on.

Seikoh II Nursery School - Pokapoka room！
It's a nursery school in a residential area near Chiba Newtown Chuo Station, Hokuso Line.
It should be easy to find Seikoh I and II Nursery schools in serene neighborhoods.
School entrance is controlled by teachers and school staff inside, so you have to call a bell when visiting.

It's very common that little kids' mood swings rapidly for little things.
She wasn't in the mood to do anything but once the teacher started singing "the usual song with the usual picture book"....

The picture book the teacher is using today is a picture book set to the song "O-i Kaba kun(means, Hello Hipo)"
I thought it was just a regular story time, but it was more of a sing-along style with music.
Nowadays, picture books set to songs are getting popular with toddlers.
In Pokapoka room, this song and book is used every time, so that children who have visited before know the song and its finger play. They look forward to it very much.
Today's activity is "Making Paper Grapes"!
You just roll up the paper into small balls and stick them on the backing board with double-sided tape.

Painting at Pikapika room, Seikoh I Nursery School the other day. My daughter makes things quickly and starts playing with toys right away, but she's always like this! Teacher talks nicely and gently every time so she likes to come here and I often take her here. I'm glad to see that she got better mood in no time.（Mother）

Q. What do you think are the advantages about being in charge of the Pokapoka room by yourself?
I sometimes think it would be nice to have more teachers to organize the events with various activities, but I like the current system where I can sit down and talk to each visitor in person.
Q. Is there anything that you care about on a regular basis?
I learn something everyday through here. I don't think what I do is the best. I've developed the ideas through trial and error, copying the best parts of other teachers and trying things that seem fun. Even "O-i Kaba kun", another teacher was doing and I learned from her. Other than that, I chat with many visitors and get ideas from them.
Q. What is the recommended feature of Pokapoka room?
Pokapoka room is just like a close friend's house where you can feel free to come and visit us. That's what this room is for and how we want you to feel. Even with the craft, there is no hard work at all because it's already hard enough for parents to bring little ones here. We want you to relax. I often sing songs that everyone enjoys and make little ones smile. I hope they sing at home as well.
Q. At last, please give parenting family a message.
Many people who just moved into Chiba New Town district and/or Inzai city visit Pokapoka room for their first visit. It's stressful sometimes during parenting. Please don't hesitate and visit our room just to chat and make friends.
